About VATME
VATME is a professional association committed to promoting excellence in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and to fostering and supporting cultural and linguistic diversity. VATME provides support and services to TESOL teachers working in schools and pre-schools, adult and community education, ELICOS centres, university and industry settings.
VATME is managed by an Executive Committee of volunteers, elected each year at the Annual General Meeting. The Executive Committee is supported by paid part-time staff, who can be contacted at the VATME office. The sturcture of the association, including the role of office holders and procedural rules are described in the VATME Constitution.
Affiliations
VATME is an affiliate of the Australian Council of TESOL Associations (ACTA). VATME is also a member of the Council of Professional Teaching Associations of Victoria (CPTAV).
About ACTA
The aims of ACTA are to provide, at a national level, an organisation which will:
- represent and support interests of teachers of English to speakers of other languages and multicultural education
- establish and maintain links with other organisations, at regional, state, national and international levels
- promote the recognition, study, research and development of TESOL within the context of a multicultural society
- maintain and seek to improve professional standards in the field of TESOL
- conduct an annual national conference.

TESOL in Context
